That means that all the water molecules on earth and in our atmosphere today are the same ones that existed when the dinosaurs roamed the earth! Here\u2019s how it works:<\/p>\n<a class=\"fusion-modal-text-link\" data-toggle=\"modal\" data-target=\".fusion-modal.hydropower-and-you-the-water-cycle\" href=\"#\"><\/p>\n<div style=\"float: right;\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-7862 img_border_cs\" src=\"..\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/the_water_cycle-300x208.png\" alt=\"Illustration of the water cycle evaporation transpiration condensation precipitation runoff percolates\" width=\"300\" height=\"208\" \/><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 310px; text-align: center; padding-top: 10px;\">View the water cycle<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/a>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Evaporation<\/strong>\u2014The sun heats water in rivers, lakes and the ocean and turns it into vapor or steam, which then rises into the air.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Transpiration<\/strong>\u2014Water from plants, animals and humans evaporates into the air.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Condensation<\/strong>\u2014The vapor cools and turns into tiny water droplets that attach to each other and form clouds.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Precipitation<\/strong>\u2014Water falls from the clouds as rain, snow, sleet or hail.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Runoff<\/strong>\u2014Some water stays on the earth\u2019s surface and flows into rivers, lakes and reservoirs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Percolation<\/strong>\u2014Other water seeps down into the earth\u2019s natural underground reservoirs called aquifers. The rest is salt water or is frozen in polar ice caps and glaciers.
